It was wonderful waking up in a huge bed and seeing sunrise across the water (and our massive private terrace). The hotel breakfast was fantastic – we had more than our fill of cooked breakfast, good quality cured meats and cheeses, way better than normal quality pastries and cakes, muesli, coffee, and most importantly, unlimited smoked salmon. We took for later a sandwich each, 10 pastries, and two peaches.

Our plan was to maximize time in the nice hotel (checking out at noon), so Viki took a post-breakfast nap and I went for a “sunbathe” in the drizzle (I had the entire pool area to myself!) and swam a while. We left just past noon, starting with jackets off but quickly put them on as it rained more continuously.

The route went along the coastline all day, which was really nice. The coastline was quite rugged, with lots of sandy beaches, rocky potrusions, cliffs, and nice lookout rest areas right off the road. At 25km we stopped at one such lookout for a pastry and nap stop. We then continued to finish our short 58km day in Redondela. We luckily got two of the last six beds in the Albergue (32 beds total), but had to beg the receptionist a little, who initially said that priority goes to walking pilgrims, but then relented.

We showered, Viki took a nap, and I got dinner. We haven’t had much veggies recently, so dinner was a head of lettuce, a little broccoli, little carrot, little tomato, jar of chickpeas, pack of olives, and some dried cranberries. Viki says “it was great”.
