We grudgingly awoke, after a fitful night sleep, as Viki has been struggling with pain from saddle sores. We finished the entire pack of cookies given to us by the local man and set off.
30km in we had coffee and pastries in Cuneo and I got shouted at for a while for my poor sense of direction and biking abilities. We carried on, stying mainly in the flat plateau of land surrounded by big mountains.
Much of the afternoon was spent biking through farmland, mostly apples and corn. One friendly tree was kind enough to bestow on Viki two apples to have as an afternoon snack. This was later followed with Gelato.
Towards the end of the day, we were planning on stopping at 100km, but we agreed that if we could instead make it to Turin (135km) that we would stay in a hotel and go out for a nice dinner. So we pushed on, by Viki’s decision, and our pace jumped from a typical 16km/h to 27km/h as we raced to the end. Viki unleashed her hidden superwoman that she’d been keeping in up until then.
We’ve just come back from a wonderful three course dinner and are now falling asleep.
