We flew Vancouver to London, stayed overnight in a hotel in London for only £27.50 (at Thistle Hotel London Heathrow), and then left the next morning for our one way flight to Barcelona. Everything worked well except for not being able to check our bikes through on the second flight. We had to bring them to the hotel with us.
We arrived in Spain and spent an hour spreading out on the floor of the baggage claim area assembling our bikes. It was a bit rough leaving the airport – we found ourself on a bit of a motorway and got lost a bit, but eventually got on to a nice cycle path towards the city. We were graciously hosted by Imma’s friend Marina. We had dinner with them, tried Spanish Omelette, and Marina took as walking to a hilltop with a nice nighttime view over Barcelona. We went to bed very late and completely exhaused, so this blog post (and the next two) are being written after our trip.
